Baking Soda into Washing Soda

Did you know that baking soda and washing soda are two different things?

The chemical makeup of baking soda is NaHCO3 = 1 sodium, 1 hydrogen, 1 carbon, and 3 oxygen molecules.
The chemical makeup of washing soda is Na2CO3 = 2 sodium, 1 carbon, and 3 oxygen molecules.

If you aren't able to find washing soda anywhere, no worries! It is possible to turn baking soda into washing soda! Who knew?! I buy a big bag of baking soda at Sam's Club. It can last me for about two homemade laundry detergent, recipes

If you really don't have the time to make your own, it is possible to purchase washing soda on Amazon.

So all you have to do is add a layer of baking soda onto a pan and spread it out evenly. I usually do 3 cups per pan.  If you want a lot of washing soda you can do more on another pan. I did mine in a space between a couple days.

Turn your oven on at 400 degrees F. Bake your baking soda for 2 hours with mixing it around at half way. When the time is up the soda should look more dull, grainy and opaque compared to the original baking soda as that is more fluffy and powdery.

Notice in the picture below on the left is the washing soda and the right is the baking soda. Can you see the difference? Look at the coloring and texture.

And... that is it!! Simple.
